Nasty Niflheim

From his mysterious hiding place, Hesiod, the rogue Niflheim Carver, takes his staff and starts to recarve the symbols of all the deceased Niflheim, who either voluntarily faced oblivion, or else were executed due to crimes against the kingdom.  These dead Niflheim all have one thing in common; they are very angry at King Mithos.  Hesiod uses this anger to his advantage, riling them up and convincing them to punish Mithos for the way he's treated his people.  They agree, further insisting that as immortals, they are superior beings and therefore entitled to conquer the realm.  They decide to take their demands directly to the king.

Unfortunately, when Nadine, Jaron, and Gisborn, three of the deranged Niflheim, find Mithos, he is visiting with Insa and Nessa.  They quickly develop an interest in the situation and, upon learning that Nessa is Tristan's daughter, threaten to kill her unless Mithos agrees to call forth his army to invade Hyrule.  Meanwhile, in a far away realm, Quinn goes to pay a call on his companion Jaan and is shocked to see their mutual friend, Robin, who had himself carved out because the woman he loved didn't love him in return, alive and well.  As the three of them address their confusion, Tristan also arrives, looking for Quinn.  They are quickly joined by another friend, Edwin.  Determined to find the source of the confusion, Tristan and Jaan go to Mithos.

They find Mithos and Insa tensely waiting in Insa's cottage.  Tristan notices that Nessa is absent.  When Insa makes a cryptic remark about a time when Star was nearly kidnapped by Milady, Tristan realizes that something is wrong.  Using his powers, he manages to tackle Jaron, who is holding Nessa hostage.  Once she is safe, Mithos explains that all of Hesiod's wayward followers are back and determined to march into Hyrule.  He and Tristan decide to set a trap for them.  In order to stall for time, however, they need a distraction, so Quinn and Robin, both on Hesiod's staff, are sent to spy.

As they are preparing for their task, Quinn begs Robin not to resign himself back to oblivion when their work is done.  Robin, however, who sacrificed his own second chance at love to help Quinn win his, is resigned.  Hesiod's charges welcome Robin and Quinn with open arms, seeing as Robin is supposed to be dead and Quinn is on the outs with the law.  Unfortunately, Nadine and Hesiod arrive.  Remembering how Quinn betrayed them when they tried to take over the Phoenix House, they take him captive.

Before Quinn or Robin can be punished as spies, word comes that the Seer Army is ready to march against Hyrule.  After making some glorious speeches, Hesiod leads them to battle and is shocked when he ends up in a prison cell on Niflheim, along with his followers.  His staff is taken and he and all his people will be tried.  Until the matter has been resolved, however, Robin will have to wait to return to oblivion.  Insa, meanwhile, driven to absolute paranoia after the events of the day, takes Nessa and moves back into the Phoenix House.
